#WarriorPoet- GHETTO METAL
Ever ride through the hood and see a junk yard? Of course you have. Ever seen a scrap metal yard? Of course you have. Ever see a crane or heavy machinery in a scrap metal yard moving the heavy pieces of metal around? Ever notice a scrap metal yard that might take up an entire block? Ever shop at one? Most likely you haven’t. Actually, do you remember this?!?
And most likely you haven’t noticed that often times, there’s a luxury car nearby. That luxury car is driven by the owner of that scrap yard. That crane and heavy machinery is also owned by that owner. That land is also owned by that owner OR the owner is paying hefty rent for that land. And what does all of that mean? It means that the owner is doing very well for his or herself. “Ummm but Kel, what in the world are you trying to say? Like, what really is your point?” I’m so glad you asked, fellow Warrior Poet…
Scrap metal entrepreneurs have learned how to make a living off of what we look at as garbage and/or junk. Our junk is their bread & butter. We get into car accidents. We have refrigerators break down on us. Our computers crash on us in the middle of important work. Sometimes, our washer or dryer just conks out on us. And guess what? The scrap metal folks, benefit every time that happens, while we’re left pissed off with half clean laundry, no car, rotten food and a term paper half done. But you still want to know my point… My point is that they have the ability to extract the junk… the BS… the “no good” parts of the situation and STILL benefit from it. They have the ability to zero in the parts of a situation that no one wants to deal with yet still benefit from it… Sometimes in a HUGE way! So, my fellow Warrior Poets, I challenge you…
Look at your situation. Look at the wack parts, the BS parts, the “I don’t wanna deal with this” parts, the scrap metal parts of whatever it is you’re going through and think long and deep (#Pause) on how you might be able to make riches out of what you’ve only been looking at as trash. Don’t tell me it can’t be done, people do it every day. Just look at the scrap metal industry. The only difference is that when they capitalize off of our junk, they don’t have any emotional attachment to it. They see it as pure opportunity, while we’re going through the foolery. Which means, it will take a certain level of truth, maturity, principle, and non-emotionality (as best as you can) to truly practice this on yourself. Look at the parts of your life or of your situation that most people would view as unfortunate garbage and try to cash in on it for yourself. Don’t be scuuurred…
